Looks like my blog title missed the bus. The "War on Terror" seems to have faded, to be replaced by the Russia scare. Even the title of this post is way behind the times, but I've come back to this dormant, never-really-started blog, so I have to catch up.
The original "About this blog" needs updating, but better to write a new version which reflects my changing concerns and world-view. Freedom of speech is still an issue, but of greater concern are the existing wars and threats of new ones. "Blessed are the peacemakers." The two things are interlinked, the two world wars of the last century have never really finished and truth is the first casualty of war. There was recent case in a Canadian/German (?) court, where the defendant could not present his case, because it stated things which would have broken the law to state in public, even though they may be true, because "truth is no defence".
The Russia scare is unbelievable nonsense, but people are taken in. It only highlights that we need a compelling counter-narrative.
Update 15/03/2018 - OK I should have posted this when I wrote it. With the Salisbury Incident, now it's REALLY Russia. Has Parliament gone insane? How about innocent until proven guilty?
